Project Brief:
The project brief was to create the alphabet with connection to a local place near the bend of the Clyde River, the local community, and its history. The main task was to create a brochure with an alphabet and social media alphabet animation recognizing the West Boathouse as a meeting point for the local community and tourists.
Project Concept
An idea for this project was inspired by wood, which is one of the elements of building and water equipment. It is the most needed thing in the rowing sport. The concept represents a contrast of abstract connection of the cyan color of letters with wooden patterns and the duotone orange photo, which symbolizes the brown color of the wood. (The orange color is the alternative color to maintain consistency between animation and risograph print - only one available color for this print and project.)
The Target Audience:
The target audience is the local community, the rowing clubs, the tourists, and the art community.
The West Boathouse
Glasgow Building Preservation Trust is working with the volunteers of two rowing clubs on the rejuvenation of the West Boathouse on Glasgow Green. The project aims to repair and adapt the semi-detached clubhouses into a shared and accessible boathouse that will serve the users of Glasgow Green and wider community groups in the future, as well as it has served the rowing clubs in the past. The project will involve the repair of the category B listed timber frame building. The building will be carefully adapted to improve accessibility and provide flexible, multi-use spaces and upgraded facilities. The project will also change how the boathouse is used and who it is used by – completing the rejuvenation of the West Boathouse.
